Sierra Foundation for Health is one of the first organizations to fund care for AIDS patients, providing 103 grants between 1988 and 1991 to 42 organizations in 10 counties for case management, end-of-life care and prevention, as well as seeding the creation of the Center for AIDS Research, Education and Services (CARES).
